Or, dans ces 13 cas sans exception, les malades ont succombé, et la bronchotomie aéchoué dans les 5 cas où elle a été pratiquée. 5" Sur 40 cas d'angine laryngée œdémateuse symptomatique (tuberculeusé 1/1. fois, syphilitique 14 fois, simple ou de nature douteuse 7 fois, avec tumeurs intra-laryngées 5 fois), la mort a en lieu 31 fois et la guérison 9 fois. La bronchotomie, ayant été pratiquée 14 fois, a échoué 13 fois et n'a réussi qu'une seule fois; et encore, dans ce dernier cas, où l'on a pu retirer la canule et fermer la plaie trachéale, et où, par conséquent, l'oedèmc laryngé avait complétement disparu, le sujet a sans doute succombé plus tard aux progrès de la tuberculisation pulmonaire, dont il était atteint au moment de l'opération. Deux fois l'opération a réussi, puisqu'elle a empêché les malades de succomber à l'angine œdémateuse; mais elle a échoué en ce sens que les malades, tous deux tuberculeux, ont péri plusieurs semaines ou ( '! l .»lrc/zives ch me:/aler, à" serie, t.
