Prendre pour caractére la plus ou moins grande quantité du liquide, n'est pas plus satisfaisant. L'ex-- sudation séreuse et l'exsudation croupale sont certainement deux extrêmes fort différents; mais, abstraction faite même des degrés intermédiaires très variés, nous constatons déjà la l'intervention de l'influence anatomique. Nous renonçons, pour notre compte, a établir une classification vraiment physiologique des produits exsudés de l'inflammation, et nous avouons dès à présent qu'il notre grand regret, nous ne pouvons montrer dans nos descriptions que des groupes séparés bien plutôt par des caractères physiques que par des caractères physiologiques; nous aurons soin toutefois de faire toujours ressortir ces derniers autant que possible. Il y a presque toujours dans l'exsudation inflammatoire un principe coagulable, mais sa quantité peut étre presque imperceptible ou plus ou moins considérable. On peut donc envisager l'exsudation, sous ce. point de vue, comme séreuse, lorsqu'elle est peu ou point coagulable, et comme flbrineuse dans le cas opposé, tout en faisant cette réserve, que nous ne voulons point préjuger la question de savoir si l'exsudation fibrineuse contient ou non la véritable librin du sang. La coagulation, dans ces cas, dépend en bonne partie, d'aprés Lehmann, de la proportion des phosphates solubles. L'exsudation séreuse peut se rapprocher de la consistance sirupeuse, être gluante et onctueuse. Nous supposons que c‘est la l'evsudalion albumineuse de Rokitan=ky, dont nous 1'i'avonsjamais pu bien déter- miner la signification. Si c'est cette exsudation séreuse et gluante, on y trouve ordinairement, en même temps, une certaine quantité d'éléments corpusculaires et surtout des globules pyo'ides. Sans admettre une exsudation albumineuse particulière, on pourrait diviser l'exsudation séreuse trés liquide en deux variétés, dont l'une serait peu ou point eorpusculaire, et l'autre renfermerait une certaine quantité de cellules. Il sera opportun de distinguer, en outre, l'cxsudation séreuse non spontanément coagulable de celle dans laquelle se forment des caillots, après sa sortie de l'économie, connue le liquide renfermé dans l'ampoule d'un vésicatoire ou dans les bulles du pemphigus.
