Rasmus and Christine Strate bought the house in the • 1900's and in 197^ Craug Paulsen purchased it, The lot was originally mrned by Andrew J. Ericksen, Emil's father The Ericksens emigrated from Sweden in 1863 and initially settled at Fountain 8ree'n. Later in 1863 the family moved to Spring City and recei-. a call in 1865 to settle Richfield, 1865-1868 found the family establish in a newly built home in Richfield until being driven out by Indians. Emil was born in Sweden in 1858. As a young man in Spring City, Emil was primarily a farmer and carpenter until 1889 when he and Louis Ols opened a store. Emil has acquired the house lot from his father in 1886 and had the large house built by the time his new business venture got under way, Erickson 1 s General Store later was incorporated as the Spring City Young Men's Co-op and by 1897 Ericksen was the manager of the store. Ericksen also had an interest in a local planning mill and the town Opera House. He was a city councilman and also was county recorder, |
