Show Architect/Builder: Building Materials: log_________Building Type/Style: Vernacular Description of physical appearance & significant architectural features: _______ (Include additions, alterations, ancillary structures, and landscaping if applicable) This small building was originally used as a blacksmith shop and was located north of town. Petersen dragged the structure to its present location in the 1950's. The building is a rectangular plan and has the opening on the side. The door is quite wide, spanning about half the length of the south side. The building is gabled and the logs have been hewed square on the sides only. The top and bottom have been left round and chinked. The corner timbering is half dove tail. Obviously there, at one time, were many smithies in town, but all material evidence has dissappeared save this example. The importance of this building as an early blacksmith shop outweighs the neg ative features of its removal from its original site. No history is available at this time. |
