Hewed timbers with V notch comer notching* The most intriguing aspect of this granary comes from one construction feature. In framing the door on a log building, it is common to nail the door frame onto the ends of the logs at the opening - the frame thus supporting the logs at the point where they were cut for the door. This granary has no door frame. Rather, wooden pegs have been inserted between the loop to prevent sagging at the door. The pegs are drilled into each log about one foot from the door on each side.
