The barn on this lot is the standard hay barn type with a frame criis and log stable. The logs on the stable are left round and chinked. The corner timbering is "V" type, northed top with bound bottom. According to the scenario, the town lots were to hold 'dwelling houses plus all agricultural related buildings such as barns, granaries, and so forth. This "village" structure was then surrounded by outlying fields, a situation which dominated the nineteenth century but which is visible even today. The barn standing here on lot 13 is exemplarary of this early village structure and is historically important because, though quite standard as to type and construction, the quality is above : standard for extant structures of this form, |
