Show The analysis of more than 55,000 stone artifacts recovered during excavation of the 33 N16 sites subjected to data recovery was a large undertaking that provided data essential for the site description chapters of this report (Volumes II-IV), for the synthetic chapters on Archaic, Basketmaker, and Puebloan remains, and for addressing the research issues proposed in the research plan more than 15 years ago. Would we do it differently now? Yes. Have these data made a contribution? Yes. Moreover, the data should continue to be useful and in many respects we have only barely scratched the surface. There are always new questions to ask, new interpretations or models to test. We hope the reader has found something useful in this chapter or in the data of the lithic analysis overall. The following chapter continues with stone artifacts focused specifically on grinding tools and all the other artifacts of stone that as a collective have simply been termed miscellaneous. V.5.43 |
