Dieser auch in den atlantischen Staaten Nordamericas sehr strenge Winter war für Europa seit Menschengedenken einer der mildesten und namentlich zeigte sich in Berlin im December und Januar nur seltner und sehr schwacher Frost. Einen Schluss auf die Curve des ganzen Jahres, erlauben diese Beobachtungen nicht, da sie nur ¦£- desselben umfassen. Die Richtung des Windes, mit den Thermometerbeobachtungen verglichen, zeigte in allen 4 Monaten zusammen genommen, die folgenden Resultate: O. NO. N. NO. w. SW. S. SO. Windstille. h Anzahl 14 5 2 34 28 14 4 7 15 Mittel - 12°,20 - 9 °,46 - 0°,80 - 8°,28 - 9 o,26 - 7°,00 - 14°,OO - 9°,25 - 5°,97 h 12 Anzahl 7 5 8 24 40 15 5 11 6 Mittel - 4,47 - 10,18 - 3,47 - 5,66 - 4,22 + 0,55 - 4,53 - 2,22 - 5,74 Bei der geringen Zahl und den ausserordentlichen Abweichungen vom Mittel in den einzelnen Beobachtungen (bei W. kommen - 30°, 0 und +9°, 8 vor) lässt sich hier ebenfalls nur erkennen, dass die Windstillen am nächsten mit der mittleren Temperatur der Jahreszeit zusammentreffen (aueh die einzelnen Abweichungen sind hier am geringsten) und dass ebenso die beiden häufigsten Winde, NW. und W. von dieser Mittelwänne im Durchschnitt nur unerheblich abweichen.
