Benetzung unseres ganzen Gepackes - Dadurch verursachter Aufenthalt in den Stone-Walls - Grosse Menge der Bisonten in den Mauvaises-Terres - Brunst des Elkhirsches - Grosse Zahl der jagdbaren Thiere - Erlegung eines Hirsches von 20 Enden - Verlust des Baren-skelettes - Excursion am Muscleshell- River - Zahlreiche Versammlung der Wdlfe - Zahl der Biberbaue - Heftiger Sturm - Regenwetter - Ankunft zu Fort-Union. - "ev Morgen des 14. Septembers brach heiter mid schon an, und versprach uns eine angenehme Reise. Man belud das iieue Boot, worait man gegen Mitfag zu Stande kam, und es bestatigte sich die Bemerkung nun burner mehr, dass wir nicht hinlanglich Raum in diesem Fahrzeuge hatten. Die grossen Kasten mit den leben-deu Baren wurden oben auf die Mitte der Ladung gesetzt und benahmen uns die freie Communication5 auch fand sich nicht so viel Raum, dass man an Bord hatte schlafen konnen, ein sehr ungiinstiger Umstand, indem wir nun gendthigt waren, fiir die Nacht immer am Ufer anzulegen. Urn 1 Uhr Mittags nahmen wir Abschied von unserem giitigen Wirthe, Herrn Mit chill uud dessen einzigem Gesellschafter, Herrn Culbertson; die ganze Bevolkerung des Fortes gab uns das Geleite bis an den Fluss, an dem eine Kanone aufgefahren war, um uns zu salutiren.
