Hum- °Jdt hat in seinen vortrefflichen Werken eine interessante Abhandlung über diesen *egenstand gegeben*), und mehre americanische Gelehrte haben manches darüber Stammelt un(j bekannt gemacht, Warden hat die Grundrisse und Plane einiger e«er Denkmäler gegeben; allein so lange nicht mit Kraft die Aufgrabung dersel- eö allgemein angeordnet wird, ist nicht auf ein günstiges Resultat zu hoffen. Viel- eicht würde man auch bei St. Louis die mit den mexicanischen übereinstimmenden BV euersteinmesser finden, welche ich in meinem Atlasse habe abbilden lassen **). lese Hügel haben zum Theil grosse Aehnlichkeit mit den alt-deutschen Grabhügeln, e*che wir noch überall in unseren Waldungen finden.
