Unsre Exemplare unterscheiden sich dadurch, dass die Blätter gewöhnlich bis zur Mitte ganzrandig sind, worin sie sich denen von Mn. cuspi-datuin nähern; sie sind aber weit schmäler, nach unten keilförmig, gleich denen von Mn. affine. Die Setae sah ich stets einzeln, sehr gebogen und geschlängelt. *ticraniim purpurascens Hedw. (Ceratodon purpureus y. purpurascens Brid.) Höchst Wahrscheinlich. Doch sind die Früchte nicht ausgebildet. Neckera viticulosa. Nähert sich in einigen Stücken der Neckera ininor, aber die Blätter sind noch immer einseitig geneigt. Schön gelb. l inundata: caule pendulo laxe pinnatiin-ramoso ramulis apice ineurvis, fo-liis distantibus oblongo-lanceolatis carinatis nervo crasso excurrente, inferioribus arete complicatis obliquis, capsulis ovalibus heteroniallis subsessilibus perichaetio longissimo immersis, dentibus peristomii interioris longis persistentibus coloratis apice ineurvis. In ramis frutieuni inundatis ad flumina Wabash, Fox- und Black-River. Decerabre cum fruetu maturo. Von der Chryphaea heteromalla nicht bloss durch die langen, schlanken, weitläufig beblätterten Stämmchen und den dicken auslaufenden Nerv der Blätter unterschieden, sondern ganz besonders durch die straffen rothen Wimpern des inneru Peristoms, welche die äussern an Länge fast übertreffen, und an der Spitze hakig einwärts gekrümmt sind. Die untern Stengelblätter sind so zusammengebrochen, dass die beiden Hälften sich mit ihrer Oberfläche berühren und das Blatt ein fast schwerdtförmiges Ansehen gewinnt.
