Er lief den ganzen Tag oben herum, rass Poires (Cervis-Berries) und kehrte Abends zurück. Sein Schwanz war damals noch weiss; allein da dieser Hirsch mit Sonnen-Untergang zurückkehrte, und e Sonne in demselben Augenblicke untergieng, als nur sein Schwanz noch über er Oberfläche war, so wurde dieser für immer schwarz. Die Nümangkake beschlossen jetzt hinauf zu steigen. Der grosse Chef mit semer Medecine und seinem Schischikue in der Hand gieng vorau. Die Man- ans verfolgten die Spur dieser neuen Feinde bis zu einem gewissen Flusse, an Schein sie alle, bis auf zwei (den Mann und den Bruder der Getödteten) wieder kehrten. Die beiden Männer folgten bis zu dem Feinde, tödteten einen davon, nahmen dessen Scalp mit zurück.
