Show aus, wir alle legten uns in unsere Decken gewickelt iiber dem Flussufer zum Schla-fen nieder, wahrend die doppelte Waclie immer mit zwei Stunden abgelosst wurde. Die Reihe traf mich mit Thiebaut von 9 bis 11 Uhr, eine nicht unangenehme Zeit, bei der warmen, stillen und etwas mondhellen Nacht. Ein Hirsch kam nahe bei uns durch den Fluss, als es zu dammern begann, allein man schoss nicht,"um unndthigen Larm zu vermeiden. Bis gegen den Abend des 16. Septembers ver-weilten wir noch an dieser Stelle, um das Trocknen unseres Gepackes fortzusetzen. Zu unserem Gliicke war die Sonne auch heute wieder sehr warm, und vereinigte sich mit dem Winde, um einen Theil unserer Habseligkeiten zu retten. Nachdem man abgekocht und alle Kisten wieder an Bord gebracht, setzten wir die Reise fort, glitten an dem Citadel-Rock vorbei, dem wir nicht ohne Bedauern auf immer lebewohl sagten, sahen Wolfe, wilde Schafe und eine Menge von Fle-dermausen, welche letztere schnell iiber dem klaren Spiegel des Flusses umher flo- und machten mit der Nacht Halt an einer Sandflache unter hohem Ufer, wo |
