Show HISTORY OF UTAH BUSINESS AND PROF'ESSIONAL WOMEN'S OLUBS 1967-68 The National Convention was held in Ne,w York Oi ty July 23-27 at the New York Hilton Hotel. Newly elected President, Jean Fox, Past President Anne KidQ and 11 other members represented utah at the convention. Anne acted as a Rules Oommittee Member. Mary Judith Oo Lba th, Utah Young Oareer Woman appeared with three other Young Oareer Women on a panel before the convention body. The Salt at tea invited. a on Lae Olub honored Jean Fox,President of the utah Federation Sunday the Fourth of June, 1967. State Club members were ' Astronauts(Officers) and Astrojills(Club Members) were were requested to report for special training at the Fall Board Meeting to be held Sunday August 27, 1967 at Ramada Inn. Plan for Progress-All Systems GO" was the Space Age Program introduced at the tra.ining session. President Jean Fox and First Vice President Delone Petersen attended Fall National Board Meeting held in Washington D. C. September 22-23, 1967 to further guide them in the program for the year. a A booster rocket was fired into space when National Business Women's observed October 15-21. A proclamation was signed by Governor Calvin L. Rampton. National Business Women's Week was established in 1928, designed t6 pay tribute to all business and Week was professional women. The Space Age Voyage launched by Astronaut Jean and backed by the Space Ship Orew blasted off the membership drive into outerspace with a ticket to the moon. President Jean had pledged a 10% increase in membership (1226) members for 1968 and 3 new clubs, the pledge signed 28 July.She received the firat part of the return trip ticket. When 75% membership was reached she received the second part. A star was presented to her in March 1968 for haYing the highest per-cent membership :in the Nike Fleet, one of 6 fleets in the space voyage. However, the star had to be passed sixty members of on to Montana. Utah lacked about and came out tb;hd place reaching its pledged goal in the Nike Fleet. Two neW clubs, the Morgan Club was installed De cember 6, 1967" sponsored by the Bonneville Olub and the Oache Valley Club sponsored by the Logan Club was installed February 5, 1968 with impressie candle light ceremony conducted by Jean Fox. This made 29 clubs for the utah Federation. Fall District Conferences were held in each of the 7 districts set up the first stage of the space flight which helped guide club members to reach the goals they had set up. to clubs participated in the 1968 Criteria Club Program, would be able to run for the Golden Oircle in 1969. Each of these clubs set up certain goals for itself at the beginning of the year and they were required to measure up to these goals at the end of the year. Also, four standards set up as National Criteria had to be met in order to qualify for the Oriteria Olub. 15 Twenty one of these |
