Lenox BYLAWS Serving as Chairman of the Bylaws Committee has been on interesting and educational experience, and I am grateful to President Anne for appointing' me to serve in this capacity. The able assistance of Emma Miller and Lucille Haws, the other members of this committee; Cynthia Curtis, Parliamentarian; and President Anne was a great contribution and made the work on this committee enjoycble , The complete bylaws as they now stand were studied thoroughly, and extensive proposed changes were made--some to conform with national bylaws, some editoria I changes, some changes to make them easier to understand and determine responsibi lities, some changes we felt necessary to function better, and some proposed by clubs. The complete bylaws, with proposed changes, were mailed to members of the Board well in advance of thirty days prior to the state convention so the clubs could;,:,bave due time to study them. Also, a copy was mai led to the nationa I office for review, and any recommendations from that office wi II be presented at the state convention. All proposed changes conform with Robert's Rules of Order I and Melanie F. Menderson's Parliamentary Procedure Simplified was olso used. As stated by Mrs. Menderson, "In these days when society is organized as never before, the beit results can only be accomplished by means II It is only if we know and under of the skill to work together. Time is too valuable to waste. stand the bylaws of our organization that we function properly and smoothly. Bylaws should be studied at every meeting so members are aware of the laws governing their club, and each administration should make sure bylaws are updated and necessary changes made. We ddso studied the Standing Ru les and made proposed changes. These wi II be dis cussed at the state convention. It is not necessary to present these to board members prior to the state convention; therefore I they were not inc luded with the by Jows. It was our hope and aim to clarify questions that constantly arise so valuable time wi II not need to be used during board meetings or conventions discussing them.
