Show HISTORY OF UTAH BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S CLUBS 1966-67- The Membership Golf Tournament was launched in Septembe'r, utah being Flight 6. Membership r es ched 1,056 in .£Iebruary, which was about middle spot in the National Flight. No new clubs were and in club, st. George dropped sponsored Bonneville, Brigham Oi ty, Logan" Orem, Panguh, Roosevelt and Tooele Clubs received certificates for equali zation of membership at the' State Convention. The Golf Trophy and Membership Oertificates were won by Bonneville, Brigham City and Roosevelt, for an increase of 25%. Bonneville reached 230%. one out. Memorial Servi.ces were conducted at State Convention to pay tribute members who passed away during 1966-67: Edna Maude following Crosby of Beaver, Iva R. Jones of Oe dar Oi ty, Luella Crittenden Judd. and Zeta Jones Dais of Coalville, Amy Gunnerson of to the Bough of Logan, Elma Foots Labrum of Murray, Nan R. Ensign, Phyllis Kennedy of Ogden, and Florence Sparks, Clara Hosmer of Salt Lake City, Reba Fitch Metcalfe and Alice Osborne of Sugarhouse, Oloe Sharp of Wasatch. The Utah Delegation held its first open house at National Oon vention in Atlanta, Georgia in July 1966. 18 members from utah attended the convention. Plan for Progress Through S I G 0 was the theme for 1966-67. letters spelled out: Elevating Standards, Promoting Interests, These Developing Cooperation, Extending Opportunities through Education. program started off at the Fall State Board Meeting with "Oooperation with our Oommunity.H a The workshop on National Business Women's Week, October 16-22 was observed by the utah Federation. Governor Calvin L. Rampton signed a declaration announcing the special week. The Young Oareer Waman Program was set up for the purpose of recognizing leadership in young women and to inspire them in the work of the Federation Program. utah was one of the 41 states that sent a Young Oareer Girl to National Oonvention at Atlanta in 1966. Mary Eleano4rQhnsDn of Brigham Oity represented utah in 1966. sponsored by the Tooele Club won out in competition with other Oareer Women from the Central District and to compete at state Oonvention in Park Oity and then: represented utah at the National Oonvention in New York City. , Youthpower Program was i'ntroduced by National in 1964-65, 11 I'Partnership with Youth. Youthpower U. S. A. was sponsored the utah Federation in 1966-67, helped by a grant of t300.00 from by The enti tled the Sears-Roebuck Foundation. Sucoessful conferences were held in six of the seven districts. A certificate was received by stte President, Anne Kidd from the Youthpower U. S. A. National Certificates were also received by the partioipating districts. The certificate given to Anne stated "Outstanding contribution in organizing and planning a conference program designed to encourage leadership planning, to include moral and H. Foundation. spiritual values and to develop respect for law and order, and to inspire study of our democratic way of life in the youth of our " country. |
