Show 17 I donated two da a week for six weeks iust before Christmas, working in the UNICEF card store, located at 23 East Broadway. We were very happy with our results there. We Our net sales was $5,239.93. more thon doubled our sales over a year ago. Monday, January 23, I attended a board meeting of the United Nations, held ot the Temple Square Hotel. The subject was United Nations and Sanctions in Rhodesia Speakers were Mrs. Ursula King Bell, spokesman for "uah Friends in Rhodesia" and M. N. Smartl immediate past president of UAUN. Mrs. Bell, born and raised in Rhodesia was a very interesting speaker. 0 . I would like to soy ·that my association with the United Notions organization this has been a very interesting one. The knowledge I have gained has more than off-set year the extra effort I have donated to this cause. It was a great pleasure to visit the clubs of the Central District and meet with the fine BPW members there. Thanks for me. My personaUeeling is that one of my desires has been realized grown c loser together. again - inviting that we in the district have I want to express my appreciation to the club presidents and the district officers for all the cooperation they gave to me. The marvelous assistance given me by the state officers will never be forgotten. I have but two regrets: We did not quite fulfill our increase in membership, nor did we form, or sponsor, a new club in our area. Perhaps at some later date the fruits of our labors in this area wi II be realized. In the lnrerum, we have enriched the district so as to plant the seeds of a new club or two in the firmly ground of our State Federation •. Our meetings of our Youthpower Planning Conferences with the members of the North Central District have been a delightful experience. Things ore progressing rapidly to the finish. I am certain, by the time you read this, we wiJlhave said "Well done". This busy ,undertaking is chaired by a most efficient young woman, Claudia Sabodski. This conference was. held April 8 at the University of Utah. I am certain that the many students there were very impressed with the information given to them at this tIme . . , The spirit and idea Is symbolized by our Emblem wi II be carried on by the fine new' officers who wi II take the reins of the District after the Spring Conference on Apri I 14 at Murray. At our Spring Conference it will be our pleasure to hear talks from each of the Young Career Women from the different clubs of the district. Out of this group we wi II choose the one to represent our District at the State Conventlor" This wi II be the first time we of the district have had th is p leastfre , . - |
