Marsha II, director of the Cardio-Vascular Lab. at the Holy Cross Hospita I, was the speaker at our "Persona I Deve lopment" program in January. The fi 1m "Of Man and Minds" was presented, which showed the progress being made in heart research. It was a very interesting and enlightening program planned by Edna Walker and Emi Iy Hofh ine • "World Affairs" chairman, Mary Blundell, presented a most delightful and charming young guest, Marjatta MO'lk8nen, a Murray High School Foreign Exchange Student from Finland. She completely captivated her audience with stories and the showing of colored sl ides about her country and its customs. Marjatta speaks five languages, plays the clarinet, and is active in Girl Scout work in Finland. Even though she is a senior at Murray High, she sti II has two more years of high school in her country before she can graduate. The "Legislation" committee, Sadie Sanders and Adelia Cain, presented Mrs. Robert Shaw, President of the Women's State Legislative Counci I, as guest speaker at our March meeting. She spoke on the findings of the Little Hoover Com mission and of the difficulties of getting their proposals made into law. Future events include our program on Finance and our Birthday Party. The Finance committee, Dorothy Sherwood and Irene Hobbs, has arranged for Mr. Reed Jensen to be our guest speaker. He is with the Salt Lake Social Security office, and we are looking forward to having many of our questions answered regarding Social Security benefits. Our Bi rthday Party is our fund-raising pro ject. Part of the proceeds go for Rheumatic Fever and the maintenance of the Rose Garden at Murray City Park. The Birthday Party committee, Carolyn Burt, Nellie Higbee, and Faye Higginson, has promised.us another successful party, and we are looking forward to it. Murray BPW has been represented at the State and Nationa I Conventions, a II Board meetings and District Conferences. Also, we have helped with the local United Fund drive and have participated in the Youthpower Conference sponsored by the North Centra I and Centra I Di stri cts • Installation of new officers in May will close another year for Murray BPW, and as we look back over the year, we feel we have truly said "Y E S to Progress" •.
