Anne Kidd What group of officers, after the Inspiring installation by Hope Roberts last Ncy 15, could but strive to do their very best in the positions entrusted to them for the ensuing year? The characteristics attributed to each of these positions are well worth reviewing again: To the Treasurer: To the Correspodtn9 Fidelity Sincerity Constancy Loyalty Harmony Secrqtary To the Recording Secretary To the Vice Presidents To the President To the Immediate Past President Brilliance If we have attained any measure of success, it is because o ll the "notes" of our composition have been "in tune ", and the "harmony" is due to the component parts of the organization rather than to anyone person ho Iding the "boton ... When nne is elected to an office for a year, the twe Ive months ahead loom before you like an enormous duodechahedron. However, you soon learn to take one th ing at a time- whether it be great or small, cope with it as best you can, and by the end of the year find that th ings seem to have fallen into place rather well. Our first big hurdle was getting the standing and specia I committee chairmen selected. There are so many capable women in our Federation that it really is difficult to decide on the few we need to ask to serve in these capacities. We attempted to obtain a good representation from large and sma II clubs from a II parts of the State from a variety of occupations from new and older members. From this amalgamation, your Board of Directors was the completed, club presidents and district directors having been elected. You have had the opportunity already to meet these people at the Fall and Winter Board Meetings and through their communications with you on various occasions. To have 18 members of Federation m--nke this trip was no small feat in itself the air strike being what it was! - However, some who went by car hod trouble, too! Your president even found that to travel half way across the country by bus wasn't the worst experience one cou ld have. What these members gained from attending National Convention has been evident the throughout I am sure. year I We were very proud that Utah was at last among the states to have an open house or reception. Although on a smaller scale than some, all concerned felt much rewarded in having made the effort. To be able to honor Frances lenox who was serving as National Personal Development Chairman was a ioy to a II of us. We were also glad to have made the effort to present a token to the National Board members since the Board has since voted to discontinue this practice. The little silver Utah charms made a h it in our own and of have too, many bought them or the gold charms, you State, pins, etc The SOlO II profit that has been realized from their sale has been applied to the Young Career Woman fund. As your president I was privi leged to enjoy the gifts race ived .. I from many other State Federations. I wish I cou ld have shared them with a II of you as well as the many lovely notes received in connection with the charms and the open house. |
