Our past president Mildred Ream is our public reletlors chairman, and she hg, covered all our meetings and activities in our state and local newspapers. Our meetings this year have been very sociable I informative, and I wish to thank everyone in the club for their help. SUGAR HOUSE loueso Topham The Sugar House BPW Club has in our Home Town. II developed its year's program using the theme "S.I.C.O. Our Personal Development Committee used the letter "S" foreJevoting Standards. Their first meeting stressed ways the individua I con improve persona I appearance and poise. The second meeting featured a college girl 9iving her plans for e tevoting her standards and making a career for herself. The other sakerJ a successful business woman I to Id of her desire to establish a business and the problems Involved in finally reaching success. Our Civic Participation Committee used the letter "I If for promoting Interests. Their first meeting stressed many of the problems and unsatisfactory conditions existing in our community. Their second meeting featured a speaker who told of plans for improving our area from a physical standpoint and businesswise. The club as a whole has used the letter "C" for developing Cooperation. We are co sponsoring the Utah State Convention which will the of all members. One require cooperation phase of community cooperation this year was the presentation and dedication of a fountain in Sugar House Park. This was the culmination of several years of planning. In 1959, when the Park was in its infaacy, we planted a tree and a Iso started a fund to be used for a lasting marker and contribution of for the Park. Each year since that time we have beauty planted a tree, and this year we used the accummulated funds to pay for the fountain. It is inscribed with a plaque stating that it was donated by our club. The dedication ceremony was held during Nationa I Business Women's Week. Our World Affairs Committee used the letter "0" for Opportunities through education. Their first meeting was devoted to a study of fair employment practices. The second mCGting featured a tolk on Vietnam, the conditions and the the citizen at home con do to improve world there, conditions. Our summer meetings were fun things porties and also fund-raising projects One was sponsored by the Finance Committee and one by the Membership Committee. Both resulted in nice additions to our treasury. The Finance Committee also hod a fruit cake sale in December and a candy sale in Nlarch. Both were very successful. Our Christmas party was held at the Organ loft with the Hospitality Committee in charge. An interesting meeting on legislation was held in .hnuary by the legislation Committee. An orientation meeting was held in , January, conducted by the Membership Committee. We participated in a regiono I Youthpower Conference held at the University of Utah in April. We are sponsoring a girl to Girls' State. My thanks to the Joya I officers, the efficient committee chairmen who have helped make this year a success. I and a II the members |
