Knell As we come to the close of another year, we can1t help but think back ever the past do)lS and months of the year and enumerate the th ings that we have done wh ich have brought us success and pleasure. It has been a most rewarding experience to serve as president of the Cedar City Business and Professional Women's .Club Our membership is made up of very outstanding women of our community, and 'each one has contributed va luable information and assistance through their to lents and obi lities in furthering our Federation objectlves , , In order to carry out these ob·lectives, the members of the club gave their support Shakesperian Festival, "A Col ege and Community Project ", by attending one of the performances as a group. to the " ' In August, the officers hosted the club members and guests at an outdoor party the patio of the horne of president Clara Knell. The program was a report of the girls attending IJ'Girls State" at th Utah St'ate University. The girls' mothers were spec ia I guests. on I ' 11 At our September meeting, members and prospective members were privi leged to hear our Utah Young Career WOri"'tJn, Wi{Jry J. Colbath, talk on rhe importance of women in the Professional and Business World of Today. \ A very 'interesting even.ing was held in' October which hoored all "Past Presidents" the Cedar cf City BPW. A short biography of the accomplishments and activities of each president was read as she' stood in a large si Iver "U" representing Utah Federation. She was then presented a red rose in honor of her service. ' new October was our membership meeting. Candle light ceremonies pledged twelve members. At our November meeting our members were delightfully,entertained and Informed by one of our members, Ella Van Groningem, who had spent the summer with her family in Holland. Customs, living habits, women's place in the home, community, and country were discussed. Our club anniversary was a Iso honored y a beautiful birthday calE ) • The usua I Christmas dinner and; program of story and song was the general theme of our December meeting. ODr Finance Committee has done an outstanding [ob in fund-raising projects Before Christmas we had the usual candy sale which, with the community Valentine card party, netted the .c lub over $100..00. 'I j , The club contributed $10.00 to the Co liege of Southern Utah in coopertion has, with the Coordinating Council of Cedar City for the Christmas Ha II of Trees received community, surrounding cities, as well. as state acclaim. We contributed :5 .00 to the March of Dlrnes We have pledged $50.00 to the Youth Progrom. Sixty dollars, has been contributed to sponsor a girl to the Girls State in Logan. hlch , , , We have sponsored Bonie Mage Iby Bishop as our Career Woman and are happy to announce that she wi II go to the State Convention. , I I I |
