Show 18 Rowena Boren SOUTHEASTERN DISTRICT The BPW Clubs of Helper, Price, and Moab that comprise the Southeastern District have had a good year. Each club has kept in mind the 1965-66 year's theme "Plan for Progress with Youth, Education, and Service", and their year's activities have centered around th is theme. Each club has worked on a worthwhile fund-raising project to help provide the needed funds to carryon and for its worthwhile projects. The Price BPW Club acted as hostess club for the Southeastern District's Fall Conference on Sunday, October 17. This conference was he ld at the Green We II Restaurant, 655 East Main Street, Price. Four of our Utah Federation officers attended. Our biggest undertaking as a District was our most successful Youthpower Conference held Saturday, January 15, at the Elks' Home, 23 East 1st North, Price. We were pleased to have two officers from the State Federation, Anne Kidd and Jean Fox, with us to see a job well done by Southeastern District. LaVerna Wall of the Price Club was the capable and efficient chairman, with Marion Ottinger of the Moab Club and Lilias Oveson of the Helper Club on her committee. Each club did its share in planning and financing. Students from six high schools from Carbon, Emery, Grand, and San Juan School Districts attended with activities from 8:30 a .m to 4:30 p.m. A program was followed patterned after the Youthpower Conference sponsored by the State Federation in 1965. In three ways we felt we had improved our conference: 1 • An overhead projector was used by Judge Paul Keller for a quick summary of the morning and afternoon activities and an overview of this Youthpower- U.S.A. Conference. 2. Our conference was an hour shorter, with activities over by 4:30 p.m .; so those students traveling a long distance were on their way home by then. 3. The afternoon refreshments were served immediately following the after noon program wh ich saved time. The Helper BPW Club acted as hostess club for the Southeastern District's Spring Conference held Sunday, April 17. This conference was held at the LaS':Jlle Club, 302 South Main Street, Helper. Four officers of the State Federation attended.
