Barrows Perfecting the club as an organization, specie I projects to develop good fellowship and mutual respect among members was the gool set by Ensign Business and Professional Women's Club this year. Ensign has been most fortunate in having a fine publicity chairman; this with the concentrated efforts of chairmen and committee members, has added much to the success of our club program. The September meeting was under the direction of club officers and featured Mrs. Robert Gordon, "Mrs. Utah" of 1966. She chose as her subject "First We Are Women". At the October meeting the Civic Participation Committee presented Mr. Henry R. Pearson, executive director of the Utah Foondation, who clarified the amendments on the proposed changes in the Utah Constitution. Ensign feels pride in the publicity received for our Federation during National Business Women's Week. We were given window display space in downtown ZCMI where, with the help of Nike, our 8PVV shield and other material, we dedicated ourselves anew to Federatbn goals established nearly a century ago. The outstanding accomplishment during this week was two televised programs centering around the work with Brigham Young University of our own Ruth Hammond. The B. Y .U. sent her to severo I universities throughout the United States for the purpose of learning to set up a clinic designed to teach teachers how to participate in expanding the role of remedial reading teaching and the field of special education in recognizing children with neurological difficulties and emotionally disturbed children and the i r needs. In November the Personal Development introduced Mr. Scott Allen, chief officer of the First Security Bank Trust Department who discussed wi lis and estate planning. The Christmas party in December featured a program of so 10 music T Christmas caro Is the group, and an evening of games. Ensign takes full responsibi lity for Christmas in the by women's geriatrics wards in the old General Hospital. Our special committee took gifts and fru it from the club to the 28 women ther'i. January found Ensign members looking forward to the future with Dr. Wayne Brown, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Utah. Dr. Brown's topic was "Technology and the Future of OUf Society.!' The meeting was under the supervision of the World Affairs Committee. Guest speaker at the l'vlarch meeting was Miss Diana Felt, director of the Volunteer Bureau of Community Service. She was Introduced by the Civic Participation chclrmcn Miss Felt discussed problems: 'in coordinating 'the activities of the Bureau in the Sa It Lake area. •. , , As one feature of our Criteria Program, Ensign has carried a safety program throughout the year under the Civic Participation Committee.
