Show 35 The annual Graduates' Tea is well underway and will be held N\ay 26, 1968, school graduates will be honored. It is felf this is one of the nicest social events held in Pa;nguitch each year. All club members help and partidpate to make the event very outstanding. at which all high Last j but nOt least, three of our club members were elected to district offices Jane Brown was elected district director this year to serve during the coming yecr for the five ,$Outhem (dubs; Dolly B. Henrie was elected as vice director and Ivah Cline as secretary-treosurer. , PRICE Anne O'Brien The prolonged rain cancelled our summer outing, but perseverance won out, and about the middle of August a delightful potluck outing was held in the Price City Park with a good attendance, including husbands and children. This started out our year, II having been lIout-of-touch since May. The September meeting was hosted by the officers. Rev. Joseph T Fitzgera ld, administrator of Notre Dame High School, spoke to us on "Mental Hoc Ith ". Shelly Winters, who was sponsored by the Price Club at Girls' State, was a special guest and told us of her experiences "there. • "legislation was the subject for October. Carbon County's State Senator Omar Bunne II spoke to us and en lightened us on the work of the Senate, loec I problems and legislation affecting the County. Radio Station KOA l sa luted (I It' working women during Business Women's Week, and a Proclamation appeared in our local paper signed by the 11 ,/ayor • Ernest Hartman, instructor at College of Eastern Utah, addressed our group ot the November meeting on "Civic Participation". Our Christmas party in the way of a steak dinner at EI Rancho was most enjoyable members and their guests. Instead of the usua I gift exchange I we each brought a gift suitable for a boy and girl and delivered them all wrapped to the Ann Self Training Center a center for handicapped children of the area. Our annual doll project was a huge success, with the girls doing a good [ob of selling tickets and donating toward the dolt's wardrobe. Stephne Georgedes, young daughter of one of our members, was the lucky winner. A tape recorder was presented to Gary Sta ley, a student at the College of Eastern Utah. Gary was injured in an automobile accident two years ago and is confined to a wheel chair and also has difficulty writing. Presenting this tape recorder to Gory was the most rewarding and satisfying experience of my year and one I she II not forget. Contributions were made to American Cancer Society and March of Dimes. We wi II again this year sponsor a girl to Girls' State. to - January and February meetings were devoted to membership and finances. Arlene Erickson, local Extension Agent, spoke on 4-H activities (Arlene was later chosen to represent the S. E. Utah District as our Young Career Woman). Dr. John Tucker, Director of College of Eostem Utah, was our sakr in ivlorch, speaking on ''\AIorid Affairs". Dr. Tucker spent last summer studYing In England and toured other European countries. , |
