Show 3 atlvance reservations of 132 exceeded that for any previous Board Meeting. I, persona fly I and your Executive Committee were most appreciative of this. The highlight of this meeting with its Theme PLAN FOR PROGRESS We Achieve through Unity was, I believe, the introduction of officers and members in attendance of our two new clubs chartered this year. Morgan BPW Club and the Cache Valley 8P'N Club. The official charter was presented to the Morgan Club, and since there had not been time to receive the officia I charter for the Cache Va iley Club, II a "dummy was presented, and your State Officers had the very great privi lege of making the officio I presentation at their meeting on February 5, 1968. Hats off to the Bonnevi lie Club for their sponsorship of the Morgan Club and to the Logan Club for the Cache Valley Club. They did their part in helping us reach our pledge of three new clubs. - - - Another highlight was the "Pinning of the Star" on your President by Northern Area Membership Chairman, Mabel O'Brien. This membership star, mentioned earlier in this report, was earned for our Utah Federeflon because of the hard work and dedication of many Astro [I lis on membership promotion. The Star was retained two months, then forwarded to Montana. We were sorry to lose it, but this was a start, and once started 11m confident that our Federation wi II strive for and reach greater success next year. Stage III of our Utah Federation goo Is was successfully ignited at the Spring District Conferences. Again, alphabetica lIy by Districts, they were held in Sa It lake City, Vernal, Brigham City,· Salt Lake City, Provo, Moab, and Hurricane. First Vice President DeLone, Second Vice President .bsephine/ Corresponding Secretary Helen Dahle, Immediate Past President Anne Kidd, and your President attended all conferences. Recording Secretary Karla Hulet [oined us at three and Treasurer Bessie Mower at one. It was a genuine pleasure to attend those conferences and to see the enthusiasm evident by attendance a lone. One very definite contributing factor was the Young Career Woman Program. A candidate from each District was chosen. They will be introduced, and we will have the opportunity of hearing from each one later in our ProgJOm. Several of the Young Career Women who participated on the Club and District level are now members of our Utah Federation. Selfishly we are very proud of this, for we wont and need their enthusiasm and fresh outlook, but we, in turn, have much to offer them. One of our prime goa Is is to attract young women into our Federation. What better start should we have! Our sincere thanks to each club and to their participants in this Program. I feel that a wonderful "Crew" of District Officers was elected to serve the membership this coming year. \ay I urge each of you to give them the Ioya Ity and support which they so richly deserve. Only then will our Federation continue to move forward. At each District Conference the clubs were urged to begin planning NOW both on progran1ming and membership. They were urged to immediately fami liarize themselves with the ACCENT AWARENESS program presented by our National Federation to become informed lated by the 1968-69 lis a be formu Astrojl so that definite, we II-planned course of action can State Executive Board. Immediate consideration was asked to be given to having some type of youth activity this fall. - Moon landing of our Federation Rocket was announced by our tracking station in Beaver, Utah, coinciding with the official opening of the 45th Annual Convention of the Utah Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. This oli-important event is too often considered the closing of the year's activities, but I much prefer to th ink of i.t as. the start of our 1968-69 year. You wi II remember that I referred to our 1967 State Convention In Park City as a briefing session for the year, and as mentioned before, the urgency of uti lizing the closing months of this fiscal year for future planning was stressed at each District Conference. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I repeat, Don't waste the closing months. , I , |
