Esther is a dynamic person and gave an interesting lecture. iV'\ary Colbath, Utah's Youn) Career Woman, told of her experiences at National Convention, and Susan Jorgeson reported on her trip to Girls State ot Utah State University in logan. Jean Fox paid tribute to National Business Women's Week and Proclamations from Governor Calvin Rampton and N\ayor J. Bracken lee were presented. In November, the World Affairs Committee provided an outstanding program. Mrs. leah Wood, a world traveler, spoke of her experiences in South Africa and i flustrated her lecture with slides of this interesting continent. ' The December meeting $ in keeping with the Happy Holiday Season. Our FellowCommittee arranged a program of music by the West High Chore le Then 'came the exchange sf1ip of gifts and good fellowship by all. Our shut-ins were rernembered at this time. , All the hustle and bustle of the Holiday Season Just got us in good step for a very time. January was our Ann,va I legislation Meeting to which we invited the clubs in busy iv\ax H. Kerr, Director of Property Tax of State the Central and North Central Districts Tax Commission, discussed problems in assessing properties in Salt lake , Davis, Tooele, and Summit Counties. He emphasized how assessments are made, where the money goes, and our role in this phase of our government. , Entertaining us at the January r(ieeting was the USing Out Sa It Lake group which is a loco I branch of a national group "Up with People ". These young people are interested in II their country and in elevation of the standards of its people. - February was Crime Prevention Month; so the Public Re lations Committee hod David R. Reyno Ids, Utah State Drugs and Narcotic Agent, tell about the growing traffic and use of drugs among the people in our own area. It was a timely subject and a very sobering one. In" March the Specia I Projects Committee put the Accent on Youth. This year Don F. Duncan of Standard Oi I is President of Junior Achievement of Greater Salt Lake. He told where Junior Achievement started, how it worked, and what it was trying to do. The Specie I Projects Committee selects girls from this program to be honored at our meetings as the Junior Achievement Girl cf the Month. The girls so honored this year were Pam Anton, Paula Jamison, Robinette Emerson, Roberta Fitzgerald, Tina Soltis, and Kathy Cardon. One of these girls will be presented our club scholarship at the Junior Achievement II Banquet in May. Working with these young people and the "Siog Out Salt lake group gives us a much better feeling about our youth of today than that which we read in the paper. The Finance Committee bro\Jght H.
