Show 38 during In the fall the District Conference was held in the Hotel Vernal. This occurred "Business Women IS Week" so was considered the climax to the c lub's observance of that week. Cultural arts material has been used for this year's programs. interesting and varied. They have been Each mon+h a "Woman of the Month" has been chosen. These ladies have been honored for their personal development and their service to the community. Each lady has been a guest at a dinner meeting and has been featured in the local newspaper. Two club members were among those chosen. They are Mrs. May Jorgensen and Miss Pearl Shaffer. For the second year, the club has invited a high school girl as guest each month. These girls have been student leaders and outstanding in personal development. Each was presented a necklace chain with the Club Emblem as a memento. On March 5, the Vernal Club, together with the Roosevelt Club, held a Youth Conference at the Dinaland Country Club. The theme used was "Youth's Opportunities in Tomorrow's World". State officers attending were Jean Fox and Anne Kidd. Genera I chairman for th is event was Mrs. Dayl Webb of the Verna I Club. Fifty high school students attended. lnteres+lnq speakers were heard with panel discussions following. All present enjoyed a delicious buffet luncheon. The club plans to consult some of the youth, and if they consider it worthwhile, it will become an annual event. The Spring Conference wi II" be he ld in Rooseve It at the Frontier Gri II. The Vernal Club will present the name of Miss Linda Pratt to compete for the honor of being Utah's Career Girl. Although the Verna I Club took in no new members th is year, they have two who and there are other good prospective members. wi II join as of May 1 , WASATCH Arvilla King Our summer activities took us to Tooele In August for a park outing as gues1sof the Tooele Club, and to Jordan Park and the International Peace Gardens for a picnic where Tooele members joined us. On this yecr's roster we happily boast three new members: Mrs. Genevieve C. Reed, Miss Helen Green, and Mrs. May S. Bruce. Personal happenings among members were varied. Geneva Greenley changed her S. Fay. Mrs. Nellie Jack, a veteran legislator, was appointed by name Governor Rampton to fi II a vacancy in the House of Representatives. Ne lIie wi II be a candidate for the same posi tion in the fa II elections. In March we bid "Bon Voyage" to Illness has kept Joh Geneva Langlois, our first vice present, as she began a world tour.
