Show 36 Jan Brown PANGUITCH The Panguitch 8PW Club elected the following officers for the 1966-67 year: Jane Brown, president; Sylva Judd, vice president; Von C. Daly, secretary-treasurer; Helen Wright, historian; Irene H. McEwen, recording secretary; and Ni Ia H. Steele, correspond ing secretary. We increased our membership by eleven members this year, end these new members came from various businesses which added new zest to our club as': well as giving us new ideas. We were successful in having two of our club members elected to public office during last election. Rea Dodds was ejected to the position of Gorfleld County Clerk, and the Helen Wright was elected to the position of Garfield County Recorder. II An evening meeting of "j\ileet Your Candidates was held by our club in Panguitch for any candidates in the County or State who cared to participate. At this meeting our two cand idates, a long with others, were given an opportunity to speak. The. meeting was well attended and did much good in stimulating activity at voting time, and we fet it helped our members win. We began our club year in August by having our meeting at the lodge in Bryce Canyon National Park. The trip out was delightful, the surroundings at the park lovely, and the food was de lie ious . • We decided on a food sale for our money-making project this year. Under the able leadership of Ingra Riche .ds, the food sale was very successful. It was held during the deer season I and we cleared in excess of $100 from this effort. . During the year, two members of the club, Jane Brown and Nida lV1ae Jensen, earned Gold Cards for bringing new members into the club. At this Fourteen members of our club attended the fall conference held at Mi I ford conference we were awarded the Golf BOil and Caddy earned in the Golf Tournament for having p rating of more than 116% of last year's membership. The rating has now passed the 120% mark, and we are third in the state for new members • •. We have taken steps to <Jua Ii fy for a Criteria Club for the 1966-67 year. Twelve members of our club attended tIE Spring Conference held at Cedar City on l\I\orch 25. We sponsored Ni 10 Woe Ipson for the Young Career Woman, and she won first place in the Southern District. She is being entered in the state contest to be concluded during the state convention at Park City. We are sponsoring five girls to the Youth power USA Conference this spring. Plans are now underway for the annual Graduates'. Tea for Panguitch High School graduates. This is a I ways considered one of the outstanding events held in Panguitch and is looked forward to each year, not only by the high school graduates but also those others who may attend • We fee I the Panguitch BPW Club holds an important position in the life and community. of Panguitch. Our club consists of women with many and varied talents who are wi f ling to work and share their ta lents with others whenever they have the opportunity to do so. The members of the club feel we are a service club and all are willing to serve in any capacity or at ny time in the activities of the community. |
