Show 38 The World Affa irs Committee arranged an interesmg meeting on "Women Con Meet the Challenge of World Affairs." Mrs. Algie Ballif gave us an inspirational talk on this theme. The project committee arranged the November meeting around the theme, "Progress Future ". It was brought out by the speaker that pecple have different motives for for· the doing things. In applying this to the BPW Club, he gave many interesting points for members to consider in improving their enjoyment of membership in the club. The Christmas party was arranged by the Public Relations Committee on the note "Peace Around the World" and was enjoyed by a II members and guests present. In addition to several excellent musical numbers, there was a short talk on "Peace" by Dr. Edwin B. Morrell, and the Christmas Story was portrayed in tableau and scripture from Luke and Matthew. The party was ended by all present singing "Silent Night, Holy Night" while holding lighted candles. One other note: The members of the Provo Club decided to raise $200 toward the new Women's Clubhouse now being constructed in Provo. This wi II be a beautifu I bui Iding when completed and wi II be available for meetings of the Women's Council of Provo and other 'women1s clubs. Our dinner meeting in January was planned by the Civic Participation Committee and "Recreation for Health Physical, Mental and Emotional". The speaker wos Professor Claude B. The April meeting was our election of new officers. Mrs. Twilla Newberry was elected president, ne4>la Stewart will be first vice president, with Eloise Fillmore as second vice president. Vilate Myers will be corresponding secretory. Six delegates" with alternates, were named for the State Convention at Park City on i'v\ary 5, 6, and 7. We hope to have about twenty members attend the State Convention in [vlay. Erma Steward ROOSWELT The Roosevelt 8PW Club started the year with a garden party held at one of the member's home. . . This year our club co-sponsored the Ute Indian dances which were held on Friday of each week during the summer to help promote tourism in our town, We feel this was very successful and plans are made to sponsor this program again this summer. In September, in coordination with the Uintah Basin Industrial Convention, we were in charge of a hamburger stand to raise funds to finance the club for the next two years. Our float won first prize in its division in the UBIC. pa.rade. October was the month we held the Bosses' breakfast.
