Show 35 friendship and dedication strong enough to withstand any stonn. This dedication standards and obiectives of the Fedetation has lasted ond grown our throughout to the year. We paid special tribute to all past presidents of the Crem BPW Club by written tribute and a small gift of appreciation for their wonderful service. We honored ten past presidents. Sponsorship of National Business Women's Week in October flJw the Orem Club off to pace as the business year began. Chairman Bemice Cox prepared the proc lamotion for the Ivlayorts signature. At the same time, we were a'lready busy raising funds for the yecr's project By devoting one meeting to an intriguing "si lent auctOn", we obtained $50 toward on active , the project , later, smaller amounts added to this fund. Honors in membership came early in the year as we were able to stabi lize Later I we gained two new members who increased our rolls by ten percent. Lurleen L. Hansen is. , chairman. Miss Karen Kofford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Weston Kofford of Orem, is our Young Career Woman of the year. Miss Koffort is a BYU student who is interested in working with young people's camps simi lar to the one she was in charge of at Brighton. Ileen Storrs is club chairman for the Young Career Woman program. The Utah Committee's report on the Status of Women is being circulated among our members, and by Mayall members will have studied it. Wi"th the money raised earlier this year for the club project, we shall pay the tuition of needy girl in business or other vocational training at Utah Trade Technical Institute", By selecting someone who is now receiving welfare assistance and he Iping her, through training, to become se If-supporting, we feel this project benefits both the individua I and the community as well. Evelyn Terry and Bessie Mailing are in charge of this projecr a , We have had a series of vital programs this winter on timely, important topics, keeping members up-to-date and well-informed about legislation, entertaining, leadership, industrial development, and foreign affairs. Excellent representation from our club has attended district and state BPW meetings. II Our March meeting was a "get acquainted night. We invited the members of the other two clubs in our District, Provo and Spanish Fork, to [oln with us. We were most pleased at the response and feel that it was one of the most fruitful of t:,e meetings We have supported the fund drives year It approved by our Notional and State Federations • Our membership is small, but we have a most friendly, precious groupo All of our members are outstanding in their but some fields, specia I recognition has been given to the following: Bessie Meiling, Utah County Welfare Director, was an outstanding speaker ct the Winter Board lV\eeting; Helen Wentz, retired school teacher, received honor in being a candidate for treasurer of the Women's Legislative Council; Lynn Petersen, medical assistant, has been elected president of the American Association of a\Aedica I Assistants for Utah County; Almeda Gammon, real estate broker, has been elected president of the County Reo ltor's Board, the first time a woman has everheld this office; Dorothy Stratton, librarian! is Persona I Development Chairman for our State BPW Federation. .
