TO ALL NATIONAL FEDERATIOm OF THE INTEHNAT IONPJ., FEDERATION 0]' BUS ImSS PSIQ_NAL_W_OMEN. ZAMBIA'S 23rd November, 1967. __ 1968 INTERNATIONAL WEEK PROJl!CT The National Association of Business and Professional Women of Zambia has suggested to the newly established University of Zambia that it may be possible to get other National Federations, State Federations ani even irdividual B.P.W. Clubs throughout many countries of the worldto assist with the formation of an INTERNIONAL GARDEN and this' suggestion has been enthusiastioally received. We are, therefore, asking you to join in this project by serding to us seeds of some of your typical shrubs, olimbers or perennial plants. These would be germinated by the University's Hortioultural Officer and' eventually planted in a speoial section of the Botanioal Garden duly labelled not only with the botanical details of the plant but with a brief of the donor. description The University of Zambia is situated in our capital, lAlsaka, whioh is 4,250 feet above sea level ani enjoys a sub-tropical climate With sumner rainfall. Most temperate, sub-tropical arxl tropical plants can be grown here even if some require special care. The Horticultural Offioer has told us that he will be most interested in trying whatever is native to other parts of the world but he does not want herbaceous varieties which would die down after flowering as it is a pennanent garden which is to be 'established. Nor do we ask for bulbs or tubers as such would COm9 under special import regulations but we have asoertain ed that there will be no import difficulties in the case of seeds. It is intended to ask Lady Littlewood, the International President, to make the presentation of these seeds to the University during her visit to Zambia in mid-April 1968. Will all B.P.W.C1ubs Federations who are interested in helping us establish a truly International Oarden, please return the attached questionnaire duly completed when forwarding seeds which should be addressed to :The National President P. O. Box 333, N.A.B.P.W.Z., LUSAKA, ZAMBIA. Yours sinoerely, , :,,[:;(Mrs. Jonah Woods) LIC RELATIONS OFFlCER N.A.B.P.W.Z. |
