Show 2 Before going to National Convention, we hod to look ahead to Fall Board Meeting. We felt that to have this meeting before clubs sot too deeply into their planning for the year wou lei make it possible for us to be of maximum assistance to them. Therefore, the date was set for August 28, and the preliminary call was sent out before we left for Atlanta. It was most gratifying and exciting to have a record attendance of 125 at this meeting and, iudging from comments and reactions, to feel that the day was one of accomplishment and success. We tried to bring as much back from Nationa I as possible and to have you become acqinted with the officers and chclrmen as they conducted ACTION workshops and gave ACTION reports. The next red-letter day for YOin' president was the Nationa I Boord Meeting in Washington, D. C., on September 16-18. This was a most helpful experience. It was also a most pleasant one since it gave an opportunity to get better acuainted with other state presidents. A whole afternoon was spent with the nationo I parliamentarian discussing procedures for state con ventions. Hopefully, that session has facilitated the planning for this convention;and I trust that we have arranged a program for you that will be businesslike, interesting, varied, informative, and in spots, entertaining. Other actions of note by the National Board were the cancellation of the proposed Conference of the Americas and the decision to have biennial rather than annual legislative Week Ends on a national level. Among the most pleasant duties of state officers is the privilege (and duty) to attend the Fall and Spring District Conferences. Especially after being on the State Board a year or two, you look forward to getting acquainted with more members each time and renewing older friend ships. The hospitality exhibited by each of these groups is wonderful, Members should, and do, appreciate this opportunity to get better acquainted with the officers they have chosen to serve them. Also, there is the additional value of getting to know the geographyof the State we II. National Business Women's Week was celebrated most effectively by many clubs in our Federation. Governor Rampton very graciously signed the State Proclamation, and we had a good news spot on TV • Through all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Season, there loomed the day set for Winter Board Meeting .bnuary 29. Again the cha Ilenge of arranging a program to conduct business, inform, inspire, and develop enthusiasm; again we had record attendance; and again the resu Iting feeling that our purposes had been accomplished and our Federation ob [ecfives advanced. - It is not difficult for anyone to determine what has been uppennost in the minds of all your officers and chairmen during the time since that meeting. Interspersed with Youthpower Conferences and Spring District Conferences has been the ever-present goal of N\ay 5, 6, of planning the details of and 7 at Park City. Sharing the burden I should say privilege the convention have been two most able hostess clubs, Salt Lake league and Sugar House. The minute planning, advertising, and execution of the many necessities for a convention of this nature have been carried out in a masterful manner, and we are-deeply indebted to all who hove participated in this venture. Space does not permit individual thanks at this time, but you know who they are I and I hope you wi II acknowledge your satisfaction with the arrangements discontent we are sure will remain at a minimum. - - - fo lio , are given in the Goals for the year we did set.
