Show 39 The following international members were house guests of Mrs. Suzanna Mae their visits to Salt Loke City: Mrs. Jonah Wood, president of the Zambia Grua Federation; Miss Anni Sitanen of Federation of Finland; and Mrs. Elizabeth Greenfield of the British Federation. on We were a II saddened by the loss of our president, lois Kershaw, who after a four-month illness died on the 12th of March. She had been a loyal and dedicated member. Our regular meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month at the Temple Square Hote I . In September, City Commissioner Conrad Harrison enlightened us regarding several phases of city government. World Affairs was the topic in October. Mr. Salekonrad of the Iranian .Student Association talked on the history, georgraphy, resources, and political situation of Iran. Also, two student music ians with accord ian and guitar presented folk music of Iran. Several of our members attended the district conference at Park City on October 10 and reported that it was a profitable experience. In November, Miss Dorothy Zimmerman gave us a very informative ta Ik on the legislature. She explained the intricacies and details of how a bill goes through the legislature and becomes a law. Our December get-together was On outstanding socia I at the home of Mrs. Suzanna Mae Grua. We were entertained by Miss laRena Crow, who played and sang many favorite Christmas songs from foreign lands. Also, group singing of more familiar songs was en joyed. . January brought us Mr. Kay Allen, speaker of the House of Representatives and member of the Little Hoover Commission. He discussed with us some of the many problems of Another special guest in January was Miss Barbara Jean Merri II, our state government. Utah IS Young Career Woman at 1965 Nationa I Convention. In February, Mrs. Ted Burnett was our guest speaker. Mrs. Burnett, president of League of Women Voters, talked on the many things that women can do in working toward better government by being informed and by participating in civic affairs. At our February meeting, we a Iso had a special guest, Miss Carol Lynne Young, a socia I worker, who will be our club's candidate for Young Career Woman of 1966 .. Five of our members attended the Youthpower Conference on March 12 at Un iversity of Utah sponsored by Centra I and North Centra I Districts. by a At our March meeting we enjoyed an excellent illustrated talk on former member of the Peace Corp, Mr. Lloyd Ellingson. Ethiopia In Apri I we will hear Mrs. Jefferson Eastmond, who accompanied her husband to Turkey and Nigeria on a special assignment. looking forward to our District Conference and then State Convention in Brigham City.
