Show 41 SALT lAKE LEAGUE Ei leen Adkins The Solt lake League of Business and Professional Women has been guided through a and productive year by Eileen Adkins, president; Burnes Williamson, first vice president; busy Virginia Fields, second vice president; Irene Warr, recording secretary; Alma corresponding secretary; and" w.atle Parkinson, treasurer. , Haltiner, , Regular monthly meeti were held, with interesting and varied programs. During the summer a barbecue was held at the home of Irene Warr and a spagheHi dinner at the horne of Ei leen Adkins. One hundred dollars was donated by the Club to the IlMeals-on-Wheels If program for the elderly, which is operated by the Solt lake Netropolitan Services for the Aging. On October 20, the Salt Lake teague Provided refreshments and entertainment at the Psychiatric Ward at the University Hospital, with on excellent 30-minute program by Mr. Ted Parkinson, exhibiting slides on wikJlife and conservation. At the November meeting, the Club had as guests several candidates for local govem mental positions and enioyed an invigorating discussion of the local political scene. At the December meeting, an excellent film with discussion of the problems of wat-er pdlution was presented to the group by the Utah Fish and Game Department. In December we a Iso "subbed for Santa", with the assistance and cooperation of many individuals in the community in addition to our own club members. During ..bnuary, the club entertained Ado Burt as a special guestl who discussed Public Health Services. Our Club also plrticipated with other area clubs in providing funds and transportation for the proiect sponsoring crippled children to the showing of "Peter Pan If at the Valley Music Hall. Several members of our Salt lake League attended a meeting f Sugar, House BPW in February and worl<ed closely with the Sugar House Club throughout the yeor in the organization of the State Convention for Park City. ' We had visits during the year from Anne Kidd, state president; and N.abel O8rien'r North Central Dsmct director. Members of our Club also ottended the District Corference and State Board Meetings. At the iV\a,rch meeting, some members of the Sugar House\ Club , visited our Club and were entertainet;l with a program on the history a"cl practies of various : types of fortune telling, card reading, and other supersfitious practices. Several new membel'$ ioined our group during the year and have added much to its success and cot'ltinuity. The Convention work has been most interesting and challenging, and we all look forward to a successful climax to a busy and productive yeor when we meet in Park City on May 5, 6, and 7. |
