Stratton The personal development activities have be en planned and carefully carried out by varied activities throughout the State. Clubs have had ot least one special evening in some phase of personal development. N\ost clubs have had extra projects in this area. Six of the seven districts have set up and carried out successful Youthpower Conferences which have involved hundreds of· Utah young people I sharing ideas, learning to express th(tuelves and hearing successful adults. . . Hobby evenings hove been interesting activities in many clubs as weJl as demonstra tions in fashion, grooming, personality. Club members themselves are frequently the best speakers for this. Using them where p'ossibie accomplishes two goo Is, that of developing the member herself as well as sharing her know-how with others. The Young Career Woman Program, which has made such good strides in the past has been carefutiy organized from the club level through the district meetings to the· years, state convention. A great deal of intere.st and enthusiasm has been shown in this club sponsored activity . _ Menta I health is of great concern nationa lIy, and there have been very good lectures and discussions of suggestions to promote better attitudes and to recognize danger signs. CIVIC PARTICIPATION Edna A. Hill A workshop for club chainnen was conducted at the beginning of the year at the Fall State Board Meeting_ At the workshop, the "C" in S.I.C.O., which represents cooperation with our community, was chosen as our ebjectlve There was a very fine attendance, 60%, of club chainnen present. . , The following resolution was adopted by all the clubs, and the programs were carried out accordingly in each club: "Whereas we the citizens of this United States of America are engaged in a defensive war in Viet Nom: And whereas this is an important election year in many of our own local communities: And whereas we have been besought with rocia I vlolence ; disrespect of law and order, and the of violent crimes against fellow citizens: perpetuation We therefore resolve that the civic participation chairman of each club encourage respect for law and law enforcement officers through more knowledge and acquaintance with the locol officers and their iobs.
