Show ii5 WORLD AFFAIRS Ne Ida Memmott The World Affairs program, as initiated at the State Fa II Board Meeting has gone forward and met with considerable success. Clubs throughout the state have done a great dee I to create a better understanding of world affairs and our country's place in them. Reports from various clubs indicate that whenever possible they hafle token advantage of their opportunities to entertain and hear from foreign guests and travelers to foreign countries.. By so doing, we have he lped visitors to better understand and appreciate this great country of ours and have helped ourselves to better understand other nationa lities and cultures. Through our World Affairs programs we have learned about the cultures, art, literature, food, mode of living, health and welfare, history and politics, ge9raphic locations, etc of many different countries. Beautiful displays have been a part of nearly every program. ,; to Study sessions have been he ld on the United Nations. Programs were designed learn what the United Nations is, what it does, and what are its efforts towa.rd world peace and progress. Programs have touched upon all phases of the World Affairs program, and as we attempted to help others as well as ourselves to understand and appreciate other countries, we rea lized the immensity of our task. As a Chinese phi losopher has said, "One of the Simi larly, one measures of a man is his abi lity to live in the wide house of the world ". of the measures of the BPW World Affairs program is its abi lity to he lp members and II others to "live in th is wide house of the world the world community. Such under 1he resu Its and has our many-sided program, been through standing appreciation gained of which have been both exciting and profitable. - FINANCE Nona W • Slade As Finance Chairman, I have had the privi lege of Arvi 110 Kin;; and Freda Bradshaw working with me. They have been very cooperative and helpful. Throughout the year we have sold silver and gold BPW pins and charms. With the new Morgan and logan Clubs ioining us, this year, we should sell quite a few more. This helps send the Young Career Woman to the Nationa I Convention. We have worked together with President Jean and prepared a budget for the State Federation for the coming year 1968-69. |
