I had the privi lege of standing in line with the State Officers and meeting BPW members from many clubs. This gave me courage and faith in accepting ,my new assignr.1ent. The year has been rich in experience and most rewarding to District Officers and Council members. The Fall Conference was held jointly with the North Central District, Saturday, October .14, 1967, at the Hot Shoppes. Ninety-eight members attended. President Jean Fox presented a rocket to the club in each District with the greatest percentage of their membership goal. She gave the count-down and the blast-off and to ld us the stay on the moon was nearly over and it would soon be time for the launching pad. The combined conference brought the two Districts close together, and a freindly atmosphere was enjoyed National Business Women·s Week was observed by the clubs in the , District. . Our participation in the March of Dimes was an outstanding project and was well done. BPW r.lembers within the District spent felOny hours stuffing envelopes, fl'lO_nning booths, selling tickets, and counting money. The Ball was a huge success, and club members felt. it was worth everyhour given to the project , Spring Conference was held Saturday, April 20, 1963, 6:45 p'.'.,' at the Chuck-A ROiTiO, 2960 Highland Drive. Sixty-six members attended. A warm, friendly atmosphere and a delightful dinner were enjoyed by the members and guests. The program was exciting. Four Young Career Women were presented as contestants for Central District's Young Career Woman from the Midvale, Murray, Sugar House, and Tooele Clubs. Mrs. Jean Blackham, from the Murray Club, was selected to repl'&sent Central District at thel State Convention at Beaver, June 7-9, 1968. New District Officers were elected and State President Jean Fox inducted them with a beautiful candlelight ceremony. 'Ne have enjoyed our visits to the Midvale, Murray, Sugar House, and Tooele Clubs. Excellent programs were presented, and the attendance was good. The spirit of BPW was evident at each meeting we attended. Due to sudden illness of my husband, I was unable to attend the April meeting of the Tooele Club as planned. Edna Anderson, rr-'"'1ry-treasurer, filled my place and gave me an excellent report of their activities. Most of the Central District Clubs have fulfi lied thir paper work and participated in the Criteria Program • [ wish to express my tlppreciation to the State Officers, District Officers, and Club Presidents for their loyal support this past year, let us aU ramember to reach out for oppouti and strive to increase membership in BP\N as the years move on in the future. . |
