We started our 1966-67 year at our installation luncheon in June at the Elite Cafe when the 8P\N pin was presented to president Dora B. II I and we very enthusiastica Ily planned for this to be for our In club. outstanding year July came our money-making project We operated the concession booth at the Race Track during the Beaver Race Meet for a three-day period. Our project was very successful, and after three days of hard and the tiring work donated an , by club members, we tucked away a very tidy sum in our savings account at the Beaver Branch Bank. This proved our efforts were really worth while. In August we enjoyed our onnuol forest tour. The District Rangers of the Fish lake I\lational Forest were our hosts, and this trip was greatly enjoyed by a large group of our members. On August 29, the new club officers entertained the 1966 party at Ponderosa Park in our beautiful Beaver mountains. po id members at a lovely In September we held an outdoor breakfast at Beaver's BPW swimming pool and park both projects completed by the Beaver BPVV Club. We have [ust recently donated $250 toward the improvements of the faci lities at the Park. are Our Club was deeply saddened on October 18, 1966, by' the death of one of our members, Edna Crosby. She wi II be missed by our Club. She was a quiet person who was always willing to help and to serve. Out program for the year is PIAN FOR PROGRESS. An intereting and informative meeting in legislation was featured in October. In November our meeting was on public relations, and four new members were welcomed into our Club at that time. The February meeting was on World Affairs and the March meeting on Human Rights. These meetings were a II very informa tive and rea Ily enjoyed by the members present. On April 3 our meeting was on Civic Participation. This meeting was held at the Belknap School/ and the public was invited to hear our guest speaker, Chief Larry Lunnen of the Orem City Police Department/to Ik on law enforcement. He a Iso showed a fi 1m entitled "Every hour, Every Day." Following the film, Chief Lunnen spoke on the responslbl lities of an officer to the public and a Iso the responsibi lities of the public to its officers. The meeting was well worthwhile for all who attended and really gave them food for thought. We deeply appreciated Chief lunnen's contribution to this meeting. Guests were our district officers Nelda Memmott, Beatrice Oxley and Pot Rimpau. . - I |
