Fri sby A year in offi ce as President of the Utah Federation of Business and Professiona I Women's Clubs, Inc .,has brought many new experiences into my life, many new friend sh ips were made throughout the state and country, and old friendsh ips have strengthened. The feeling of satisfaction of the fulfillment of a term of office which has seemed beneficial and successful will long remain. First of all, having Dorothy Ford, National President, perform installation in Verna I at the last convention seemed to start the year off right The new officers were given just the right amount of inspiration and determination to do their best. ceremon ies 0 Top BPW women throughout Utah were selected to chairmanships at the first The Bylaws Executive Committee meeting, and a" selected accepted the chairmansh ips Chairman later had to resign due to conflicting assignments and was replaced by Myrta Hales, another top BPW member. The Civic Participation Chairman resigned due to ill health. The State Recording Secretary also resigned due to conflicts in school, work, and BPW; but Sue Austin from Moab, a very competent member, was selected to finish out the year. All officers and chai rmen have fu I fi lied assignments competently and cheerfully It has been a rewarding pleasure to associate with such fine women, to be able to draw on their ta lents, and to use their ideas and suggestions. For a president is only as good as those who support her 0 0 0 On Ju Iy 10, 1965, a trip was made to St George to attempt to possibly organ ize club in the Springda Ie-Hurricane area and to bring new members into the t. Co, with approximately 23 members in attendance. It was a thrill to me to be presented to the convention body in forma I dress wh i I pictures of Utah were being flashed on a screen at the rear and the orchestra was playing a rousing Indian war dance 0 Past Presidents and new Vice Presidents were invited to attend the Nationa I Board of Di rectors pre-Convention meetings as observers; so Frances Lenox, Jean Fox, and Anne Kidd were also present. It seemed that State Presidents were on the receiving end of many interesting activities, attending special events representing the State, receiving many gifts and literature from other states, and being able to sit with other Presidents as a Board at the pre-Convention and post-Convention Board meetings. |
