Show Our programs were planned wHh enrichment, participation, and education in mind. We began with a summer picnic and invited new guests to [oln us, several of whom did later on. The American Field Service Program sponsored three foreign exchange students to our World Affairs meeting. The girls were so enthusiastic and interesting that the time iust flew. We wished it could have gone on and one. We took a tour through the Clearfield Job Core Center for our Civic Participation meeting_ The size of their campus and programs amazed us. A delicious dinner was prepared and served by the boys,and their combo entertained us. We all left with a much better understanding of this community program and what we can do to help them. Wry Hansing's daughter linda proved to be a most vibrant speaker for a Persona I Development evening CIS she asked "Are .You Listenit1Q?1t She talked about tuning in on what people mean as well as what they soy and also told of her work with handicapped children. Linda's charm also won her our club's and Northem Dlstrlcr's Young Career Wormn contest. For another Personal Development meeting, we learned all about stocks, bond 5 and investments wh ich made us wont to rush right out and invest our money. We enjoyed the lovely voice of Sara Borseth's daughter Anne as she sang at our Christmas party, and we are looking forward to honoring our mothers and daughters at a Mother's Day progl'O'm. last, but not leastl the highlight of our year was our National Business Women's Week program. It was tots of work and planning, but in the end we fe It verI thri lied by our efforts. Maxine Woods, legal Council for the Small Businessmen's Administration, to us on spoke opportunities and responsibilities of women in business. She was a most charming person and an enlightening speaker. Bi II Bruhn, from our own State I and Ogden's Mayor Bart Wofthuis a 'so spoke. We invited women from loco I business clubs and organizations as well as stete BP\A/ clubs,and our attendance far exceeded our expectations. We have hod membership this year in the Community Council of Social Services and Ogden Chamber of Commerce. We hove been selling Dan Valentinets booklet "American Essays" as CJ finoncia I project and plan to contribute to several community organizations with the funds. We have attended a II State and District meetings and met the requirements of a Criteria Club. All in oil, our year has been very fruitful. BOUNTIFUL June - Eva Hunt Our guest speaker (vir. Tom Lennox, Davis County Deputy Sheriff, spoke to us on law enforcement and the rights of the accused and the accuser. A lively, stimulating question and answer period followed. August We put aside all pretenses and forme lltles and found ourselves epioying fun, food, and friendship at a petlo party put on by the officers. This was a "dresa-up affair", with prizGs for te Qntest costumes. We were honored to have as special guests. two state Qfficers,' Jean Fox and Helen Dahle. - |
