UTAH PRESS ASSOCIATION guided first-place winners. And five times since 1978, Max Call and/or his son, Lloyd, have published prize-winning Messengers. The Ephraim Enterprise, a sister-paper published in the same plant, has been the Group I winner three times, one year under Stahle and once under each of the Calls. Another of the winning-est papers has been the Leader-Garland Times of Tremonton. It has earned six General Excellence awards while guided by four different publishers. The first came in Group I during 1961 under A. N. (Andy) Rytting. The others were in Group II, beginning in 1967 with Leon Morgan the publisher and continuing in 1974 and 1976 under Curtis Starr and 1978 and 1983 with Glen Curtis the guiding hand. The American Fork Citizen has gained prominence during the past decade with Brett Bezzant as publisher, winning five WINNING JOURNALISTIC AWARDS was not limited to Utah's contest by Harrison Conover of the Springville Herald.
