UTAH PRESS ASSOCIATION national director. Claybaugh and Gibson had the assistance of Jim Corn-well, that year's association president; J. Parr Godfrey of the Midvale Sentinel, immediate past president; H. C. (Mac) McConaughy, Morgan County News, vice president; Harold (Jack) Sumner, Orem-Geneva Times, secretary-treasurer and a board consisting of E. Russell Innes, Lehi; Joel Dunn, Tooele; William Wilson, Fillmore and the afore-mentioned Hal MacKnight and Norm Fuellenbach. Thanks in great measure to the diligence of then-manager Gordon P. Owen, Jr., USPA enjoyed sizable financial assistance from major Utah corporations in staging the meeting. Though delegates found thought-provoking topics on the program, they were also given ample opportunity to see nearby THE ASSOCIATION AWARDED plaques and expressed appreciation to representatives of twelve Utah corporations whose various contributions made the 1961 National Editorial Association convention in Salt Lake City an outstanding success. "Saying 'thanks' in writing just wasn 't enough," USPA leaders insisted, so press wives prepared a rather gala outdoor dinner party. 378 |
