Show 294 in front of big, beautiful hotels, and families dining on seafood outside under colorful umbrellas. There is just one voice narrating bp's commitment - Iris Cross of bp Community Outreach. While she gives her "Gulf Coast Update," she is standing on an empty beach in a blue bp polo shirt and jacket on a crystal clear blue-sky day. From beginning to end, she speaks alongside the barrage of images: When bp made a commitment to the Gulf, we knew it would take time. But we were determined to see it through. Today, while our work continues, I wanna update you on the progress. bp has set aside $20 billion to fund economic and environmental recovery. We're paying for all spill-related cleanup costs. And we've established a $500 million fund so independent scientists can study the Gulf's wildlife and environment for 10 years. Thousands of environmental samples from across the Gulf have been analyzed by independent labs under the direction of the US Coast Guard. I'm glad to report, all beaches and waters are open, for everyone to enjoy. And the economy is showing progress, with many areas on the Gulf Coast having their best tourism seasons in years. The advertisement begins the conclusion with a personal comment that speaks directly to bp's credibility: "I was born here. I'm still here, and so is bp." During these final eight seconds of clip, again, bp's logo appears before a blank screen. Four words in green font read, "Still working. Still committed." The narrator ends with a promise: "We're committed to the Gulf, for everyone who loves it and everyone who calls it home." More words appear beside the logo in the final shot: "Follow our progress on Facebook.com/bpAmerica." This advertisement argues that bp is genuinely sincere in its efforts to make for a better, stronger, environment. Like the other advertisement, this video relies on images to testify to the veracity of their claims. Each image in the slideshow is a different inscription belonging to the same argument: bp is committed to the people and the animals that live in the Gulf. While the speaker lists off facts and statistics, the images are grounds and warrants to these data, which are made claims. In the background, viewers |
