Show 214 sulfate contaminated water in the Jordan Valley and provide residents with clean drinking water since 2006. Further, Kennecott has designed Daybreak as a "traditional neighborhood development" that has reduced the community's contribution to the valley's air pollution problem (Daybreak History, 2012, p. 5). Environmental sustainability is built into the very design of Daybreak. At the end of the document, Rio Tinto concludes: "Daybreak has been carefully planned to incorporate key social and environmental features in its design. These important choices demonstrate Rio Tinto's commitment to sustainable development and environmental quality" (p. 6). These historical facts, environmental contributions, and networks of sustainability are compelling, indeed. However, it is the pictures of Daybreak that are most astonishing. On the factsheet, the website, and all the billboards, signs, and screens that we tracked at the Rio Tinto Stadium, Daybreak produces an image of perfect harmony between the city, the country, and corporation. As Rio Tinto notes, Daybreak is now a sustainably developed community that balances the social, environmental and economic needs of residents and local businesses. It's a place where important elements of life have been combined to allow residents to live, work, play and learn in a walkable, vibrant community that provides transportation options and integrates intelligent community design choices. (Rio Tinto Community, 2014, para. 2) It should be clear that Daybreak is unlike the places of corporate community that we have so far visited. Not only is this a lived community of corporate citizen subjects but it also perfectly articulates the Bingham Canyon Mine as a sustainable community. Residents are able to live with the mine and foster life-long relations with their friendly neighborhood corporate subject because Rio Tinto has created a community that has effectively hybridized the country, the city and the corporation to create a corporate community that is truly distinct.
