Show 597. EPISTOLA-DET nam illa tantummodo polfe cognitione allequi, quæ idea corporis aätuexillentis involvit, vel quod ex hiic iplïi idea poteft concludi. Nam cujufcunque rei potentia folä ejus ellentiä definitur, (per PrOp. 7. p. 3. Ethices) Mentis autem ellentia (per Prop. 13. p. 3.) in hoclblo conliltit , quod lit idea Corporis actu cxillentis, ac proinde Mentis intelligendi potentia ad ea tantum le extendit, quæ haec idea Corporis in te continet, vel qua: ex eadem fequuntur. At haec Corporis idea nulla alia Dei attributa involvit, neque exprimit, quam Extenlionem, & Cogitationem. Nam ejus ideatum , nempe Corpus (per Prop. 6. p. 2.) Deum pro caufa habet, quatenus fub attributo Extenlionis, & non quatenus fub ullo alio conlideratur , atque adeo (per Axiom. 6. p. 1.) haec Corporisidea Dei cognitionem involvit, quatenus tantummodo -fub Extenlionis attributo conlideratur. Deinde hæc idea , quatenus cogitandi modus ell, Deum etiam (per eandem Prop.) pro caula habet, quatenus res elt cogitans, & non quatenus fub alio artributoconliderarur; adeoque (per idem Axiom.) hujus ideae idea Dei cognitionem involvit, quatenus fub Cogitationis, & non quatenus fub alio attributo conlideratur. Apparet itaque Mentem humanam , live Corporis humani ideam præter hæc duo nulla alia Dei attributa involvere, neque exprimere. Cæterum ex his duobus attributis , vel eorundem affectionibus nullum aliud Dei attributum (per Prop. 10. p. 1.) concludi, neque concipi poteft. Atque adeo concludo Mentem humanam nullum Dei attributum praeterhæc polfe cognitione all'equi , ut fuit propohtum. Sed quia politivum tantummodo petis, ad alterum tranfeo, quod elt, an id polfit ab alio produci , in quo tam ellentia , quam exilientia difcrepat : nam quae ab invicem ita differunt nihil commune habere videntur.
