Qgcecunque ideæin .Mentefeqzmntm' ex ideis , fluxi)! z,!)fifmzt adæquatæ, funt etiam adæquatæ. DEMONSTRATIO Patet. Nam cum dicimus, in Mente humana ideam fequiex ideis , quæ in ipfa funt adæquatæ , nihil aliud dicimus , (per Coroll. , Prop. i i.]aujm) quam quod in ipfo Divino intellectu detur idea pluenus quat nec , cuius Deus eft caufa , non quatenus inhnitus eft rimarum rerum iingularium ideis affectus eft, fed quatenus tantum hum ana: Mentis clientiam confiituit. Scnorruu. His caufam notionum, quæ Communes vocantur, quæque ratiocinii noftri fundamenta funt, explicui. Sed alite quorundam axiomatum, five notionum caufæ dantur, quas häcnoltramethodo explicare e re foret; ex iis namque conftaret , quænam notiones pra: reliquis utiliores , quænam vero vix ullius ufus efient. Deinde quænam communes, & quænam iis tantum, qui praeiudiciis non laborant, claræ, & diiiinötæ, & quænam denique male fundatae finta Præterea conftaret, unde notiones illae, quas Secundas vocant, 6: confequentcr axiomata, quæ in iifdem fundantur fuam duxerunt originem, & alia, quae circa hæc aliquando meditatus fum. Sed quoniam haec alii dicavi Traätatui , & etiam, ne propter nimiam hujus rei prolixitatem, faflidium ctearem, hac te hic fuperfedere decrevi. Attamen ne quid horum omittam, quod fcitu neceffarium fit , caufas breviter addam, ex quibus termini , Tranfocndentales dieti, fuam duxerunt originem, ut Ens, Res, aliquid. Hi termini ex hoc oriuntur , quod fcilicet humanum Corpus , quandoquidem limitatum eit, tantiim eft capax certi imaginum numeri (031.ai imago ft explicuim Schol. Prop. i 7. hujus) in fe dif'tinäte fimulformandi, quifi excedatur, hæ imagines confundi incipient, & fihic bre fimul. imaginum numerus , quarum. Corpus eft capax , ut eas in 1. H' : difiinöte formet, longe excedatur , omnes inter fe plane confundentur. Cum hoc ita fe habeat , patet ex Coroll. Prop. 17. & Prop. I 8 hujus , quod Mens humana tot corpora diftinöte iimulimairinari poterit, quot in ipfius corpore imagines poffunt fimul formari-:7 At ubi imagines lil corpore plane confunduntur, Mens etiam omni;; corpora confufe fine ulla diftinäione imaginabitur, & quafi fub uno attributo comprehendet, nempe fub attributo Entis,R,ei &c, Poteft hoc etiam ex eo deduci, quod imagines non femper deque Vigeant, & ex aliis caulis his analogis, quas hic explicare non elt opus, nam ad noftrum, adquem collimamus, fcopum unam tan- tumfuchitäconfiderare. *Nam omnes huc redeunt, quod, hi termini ideas fignificent fummo gradu confufas. Ex fimilibus deinde caulis ortæ funt notiones illa:, quas Univerþzles vocant, ut Homo, Equus, Canis, &c. Videlicet,quiain Corpore humano totimaaines, ex gr. hominum formantur limul, ut vim imaginandi, non qiiidem penitus , fed eo ufque tamen fuperent, ut fingulorum parvas ditierentias, (videlicet uniuscujusque colorem, magnitudinem,&c.) eorumque determinatum numerum Mens imaginari nequeat, & id tantum, in quo onmes, quatenus corpus ab iifdem afficitur, conveniunt, diftintTte imaginetur; nam ab eo corpus, maxime feilieet ab unoquoque lingulari, affectum fuit; atque hoc nomine kommt: exprimit, hocque de infinitisfingularibus prædicat. Nam fmgularium determinatum numerum, ut diximus, imaginari nequit. Sed notandum, has notiones non ab omnibus eodem modo formari; fed apud unumquemque variare pro ratione rei , aqui corpus affectum fæpius fuit, quamun facilius Mens imaginatur ,, velreeordatur. Ex. gr. qui fæpius cum admiratione hominum fiaturam contemplati funt fub nomine bominis intelliget animal ere- (ia: fhituræ; qui vero aliud afiueti funt contemplari, aliam hominum communem imaginem formabunt, nempe, hominem effeaniinglrihbile, animal bipes , fine plumis, animalrationale; &lic de reliquis unusquifque pro difpofitionc fui corporis rerum univer-v fales umgines formabit.
