Show 086 As lierecalts , about the middle of July lie made a trip down the river with TAIr . F . L . LaRue , and right after that lie took a drilling ouffit down , the boats being built at Greenriver , Utah . He made a number of trips down , two or three , lie does not just remember . . ( R . 3689 . ) He did not go down with the drilling outfit ; he sent it down with Kenneth Sawyer . He helped load the outfit , however , as he remembers , and it was loaded at ( Wirnmer's Wirnmers Wirftmer's Wirftmers ) Ranch . He did not take the outfit from Greenriver down to ( Wimmer's Wimmers Wiminerys ) Ranch , because the water was too low , and he had learned ( from frora ) ( experi- experi ) ence that in order to get the drill down at all , it would have to be hauled part way by wagon . So he had the drill unloaded at Floyd , or a station by some such name , and had ( Wimmer Wirnmer ) haul it out to his ranch at the mouth of the San Rafael , where Mr . Hizer ( or- or ) ganized a crew , loaded the boats , which drew twelve to fifteen inches of water , and sent the outfit down the river under Mr . ( Sawyer's Sawyers ) charge . ( R . 3690-3691 . . ) Floyd is a station on the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad between Thompson and Greenriver , , and there is a road between there and ( Wimmer's Wimmers ) Ranch , , although not a good one . ( R . 3691 . ) After the drilling outfit was installed at the ( junc- junc ) tion of the rivers , he made several visits there to see it . . He ( remembers remernbers ) on these visits that the river had a shifting , unstable channel , and it ( was Nvas ) a very dangerous place to take a drilling outfit and crew down . . Bed |
