Description Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929.

OCR Text oped power sites , and 1028 developed and undeveloped * reservoir sites , in the two reports by Follansby and Woolley , and for which these maps referred to ( were- were ) made . This paper was released February 28 , 1929 . . ( R . 4050 . ) As indicated on Compl . Exh . No . . 2 , the first power site below the junction of the Green River with the Colorado is situated at about the foot of Cataract ( Canyon 'Canyon Canyon ) , and is known as the Dark Canyon power . site . There is also a site right at the junction . . ( If' If ) constructed , the dam below the cataracts would destroy the rapids in Cataract Canyon . The next power site down the river is in the lower end of Glen Canyon near Lees Ferry , which is a combined ( power- power ) and storage site . On the San Juan River the first power site is located at Bluff and is a combination storage and power site . It seems to be the only indicated development on the San Juan River . The map shows no lands or no proposed lands to be irrigated from the San Juan River . ( R . 4050-4051 . ) There have been several heights proposed for the Boulder Canyon Dam , the one authorized , he thinks , is about 555 feet above the water surface , the ( eleva-- eleva ) tion of the top being from about 1,200 to 1,250 feet above sea level . The back water indicated on the map would require a dam nearly 800 feet high at the proposed Glen Canyon dam site and would flood out the Dark Canyon site .
