Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

Crossed the Green ( River Rivei ) on ( horseback borseback ) at Old Trap Ford in 1910 . ( B . 3343 . ) Recalls boat called Dispatch and knows that it broke loose and sunk . Also saw boat ( Marguerite Margitwita ) filled with sand at the bridge at ( Greenriver Gxeeuriver ) . Was on boat Cliff ( Dweller Diveller ) about a mile and a half below , , the bridge ( on ou ) a pleasure trip . ( R . 3344-3345 . ) Made a trip overland from Greenriver to ( Wol- Wol ) ( verton's vertons ) ( ranch rarch ) and ( went Nvent ) down the river to Three Forks Canyon and came back to Little Valley ; Mr . Wolverton decided ( he lie ) could ( not uot ) go over the rapids on the Green River at Little Valley , tied up the boat , and ( had liacl ) them taken back by wagon ( and aud ) team . ( R . ( 3345 '0345 ) . ) Boat stopped before it got to the ( Anger Auger ) Riffle . Did not go ( dowrnstream downstream ) in the motor boat but in a rowboat ; next day started upstream in a motor boat . Went down stream about 5 miles and came back in ( motor inotor ) boat to within six or seven miles of Greenriver .
