Description |
Testimony given before special master Charles Warren in a suit brought by the United States against the state of Utah over ownership of the bed of the Colorado River. Much of the testimony was given by river runners, scientists and engineers, petroleum geologists, and placer miners. The testimony constitutes an extensive oral history of the men and women who utilized the Colorado River Basin in Utah prior to 1929. |

On the ( motor-boat motorboat ) trip that he took ( with -with with ) Mr . ( Wolvertoii Wolverton ) they ( did lid ) not encounter any difficulty ; did not get hung up a single time ( on oil ) sand bars . Mr . Wheeler was the pilot , Mr . Wolverton ran the engine , and the rest of ( them thei-n thein ) were passengers . Mr . Wheeler was the oldest ( man inan ) on the river . ( He I-Te ITe ) moved there in 1884 , he believes , and ( estab- estab ) lished a ranch , now called the Wimmer Ranch , and he has made many trips up and down the river to his knowledge .
